Just take a minute.
Now as they went on their way, Jesus entered a village. And a woman named Martha welcomed him into her house. And she had a sister called Mary, who sat at the Lord’s feet and listened to his teaching. But Martha was distracted with much serving. And she went up to him and said, “Lord, do you not care that my sister has left me to serve alone? Tell her then to help me.” But the Lord answered her, “Martha, Martha, you are anxious and troubled about many things, but one thing is necessary. Mary has chosen the good portion, which will not be taken away from her.” (Luke 10:38-42 ESV)
Martha has a great heart but she is caught up in so many things that she is missing the teaching and blessing of Jesus in her own home. Often we fail to take time and be still and just take in the presence of God in His creation around us and Christ’s Spirit in us, because we are caught up in all the world asks of us. Today let us take time at lunch or whenever to just breathe, to meditate on the power and presence of God in our lives being thankful for who He is and what He has done for us and reap the blessing of perspective on what really matters and will never leave us.
