How to Download Oculus Quest 2 Videos To Your Computer

So you’ve hit the record button inside your quest 2 head set and saved some incredible gameplay footage of your 5 under par round on Quixote valley on walkabout mini golf or that sweet video of you speed running I expect you to die, okay sorry sorry sorry I won’t spoil that for you, but now its time to go download your gameplay file to your computer so you can make a sick edit with it.

Lets start here, you need to have sidequest installed on your computer and enabled in your headset. If you have sidequest set up already skip on down to the section below and if you don’t have it set up lets get that taken care of.

get all the dirty work out of the way by first enabling dev mode on your headset. Head over to developer.oculus.com and  sign up using your facebook / oculus account and then head to https://developer.oculus.com/manage/organizations/create/

You’ll first need to verify your account by adding a credit card or a mobile phone number, I suggest using a phone number and if you want to stay private get yourself a google voice number. And thats my elliott alderson mr robot tip of the day.

Once verified Click the back to home button and create your fake dev organization by entering any name in the text box on the right for example say something like Zuck Daddy then click the understand check box and submit. Then pretend to read the disclosure agreement and hit agree. I promise this will all be worth it!

Whip out your phone and open the oculus app tap on the menu burger and then devices and then scroll down to developer mode under headset settings and then enable the toggle switch.

Jaunty on over to your computer and head to sidequestvr.com and at the top click get sidequest. Download the version that works with your operating system and then install it. If you are on windows you will have the added joy of downloading the developer drivers from oculus: https://developer.oculus.com/downloads/package/oculus-adb-drivers

If you are on mac you are good to go, on PC you will need to unzip the drivers install file and then open the usb drivers folder and then inside choose the file android_winusb.inf right click and install and then give yourself a fist bump we are almost done.

Time to make the sacred connection. Open the sidequest app on your computer and plugin your quest to your pc. Then inside the headset choose allow usb debugging and access to data. Now you can remove your headset and you will see in the top left corner of the sidequest app the icon is now green and you are connected.

Download Quest 2 Videos in SideQuest
Okay now that sidequest is set up on your Quest 2 connect it to your computer by the way this works on both pc and mac. Load up SQ and make sure the dot up in the left hand corner is green and then on the top right click the folder icon, scroll down to the folder named oculus then to videoshots and booya your files are there for the picking. Save your file by clicking the old school floppy disk icon and proceed to select where you want to save it and there you have it.

BoboVR M2 Pro Review - The Best Quest 2 Head Strap

This is the bobovr m2 pro head strap and I believe it is the best quest 2 head strap you can buy right now. Adding not only comfort but also the possibility of an infinite wireless playtime, the bobo pro is a worthwhile investment for your quest.

Of course the OG head strap that comes with the quest 2 can easily get you through your first foray into your quest gaming life. Remember downloading that first beat saber demo and then the super hot vr demo and then slinging money left and right in the oculus store to take advantage of the bundle deals. You remember.

But now that magical bliss is starting to dry off along with your headset after playing hours of thrill of the fight and you realize. Wearing the quest for an extensive amount of time feels like you’re holding a brick on your face the entire time and the battery life is shorter than a middle school relationship.

A head strap upgrade is in order and you want to know which is the absolute best? Is it oculus’s own elite? Is it the New Zealand bird company or what about this weirdly named Bobo boy. Well I'm here to tell you in my opinion and for my cranial formation the bobovr m2 pro is the best head strap you can buy.

The 13.4 ounce bobo pro is a halo design strap which just means it rests on the top of your skull. This design equally disperses the weight of the quest around your head rather than how the stock strap or even the elite strap for that matter keep the weight sitting mostly on your face but add support for the back and top of your head.

The Bobo pro strap has a much more comfortable design with heavy padding on the back where your skull slips into the strap along with the very front and the top. The thick bobo padding definitely beats the minuscule piece of foam the elite straps come with and rather than the Mohawk strap across the top of your head there are two padded nubbies for extra top side stability.

The m2 pro design has an added bonus of allowing you to rotate the headset upwards Dwayne Wayne style which is a nice feature if you need a quick glance to the outside world rather than looking through the disorienting pass though view. If you missed that reference I apologize, I guess we just grew up in (a different world)

Now the real key to the bobo pro that takes it to the next level ala the pro moniker is its detachable battery pack. If you were like me you decided to try and adapt an old battery bank to the stock strap to extend your Blaston play sessions and it worked decent at best and was definitely uncomfortable. I’m happy to say you can throw away your rubber bands and velcro. With the bobo just drop its magnetic and admittedly cute 5200 milliamp battery right on the back, and enjoy that ever so satisfying click and beep. The serotonin bump alone from attaching the battery in its slot should convince you to buy this thing. This sweet little bobo battery will give you an extra 3 hours of play time and if you opt to get a second battery for just $29.99 you can swap and charge them creating a play time of infinity. (and beyond!)

In my experience the elite head strap was better than the one that comes with the quest of but with its $40 price tag it feels a little steep for what it does. And once you start buying and rigging up a battery bank to it the bob is basically the same or even cheaper with much more comfort and a refined design. If you want a built in battery for the elite head strap it’s going to run you $100 and that’s with it being on sale.

At $60 the bobo pro strap in my opinion is the king of both comfort and battery life. I understand at the time of recording this video it is hard to find after the post Christmas snatch up but I believe it is worth the wait because this is the best head strap a quest 2 owner can buy.
